PSYCHOANALYTIC CONSULTATION CENTRE

Psychoanalytic Consultation Centre
College of Psychoanalytic Clinic – Non-for-profit-organization
Clinical Space of Praxis – FCL in Italia

«The Ethics of psychoanalysis is the praxis of its theory»
Jacques Lacan. Seminar VII

Taking into account the difficulties that clinicians find during and after their training, when they face the clinical work, the Psychoanalytic Consultation Centre aims to link training with the clinical practice. The structure offers reception and psychoanalytic consultation, from some clinicians, to subjects with psychic suffering and asking for aid within the mental health or social services.

Psychoanalysis offers the opportunity to knot – through speech- a specific bond, to renew the choices when reference points are unsteady. The encounter with a clinician is not always to be taken for granted for several reasons: economic, social and because psychoanalysis appears as a new possibility, available in addition to traditional care institutions and methods of treatment.

The Psychoanalytic Consultation Centre opened a new clinical Centre in Rome, Via Arenula 53 in 2010. This initiative aims to create, after preliminary consultations, the conditions to start, when considered appropriate, a psychoanalytic treatment with a clinician from the College of Psychoanalytic Clinic Nonprofit organization.

The offer of psychoanalytic consultation aims to receive children, teenagers and parents, as well as any person or institution dealing with difficulties.

Institutional Relationships

The Psychoanalytic Consultation Centre of the College of Psychoanalytic Clinic – Non-profit organization, is an initiative promoted by some members of Praxis -FCL in Italy and it has a place in the institutional perspective of Collèges Clinique de Paris [Paris, 1998]. It is part of Clinical Formations of the Lacanian field, connected to the International of Forums and the School of Psychoanalysis of the Forums of the Lacanian Field [IF-EPFCL].

The aim of the College of Psychoanalytic Clinic is to link the training in psychoanalysis with the clinical work, through the Psychoanalytic Consultation Centre.

Our training programme objective is to outline the boundaries for the diagnosis, to guide the direction of the treatment, in order to develop a differential clinic. The College of Psychoanalytic Clinic – Non-profit organization, clinical space of Praxis–FCL (Forum of Lacanian Field) in Italy, is the reference institution for the training of clinicians working in the Centre. Through the FCL, the Centre is thus oriented towards the School of Psychoanalysis of the Forums of the Lacanian Field [EPFCL].
The Centre gives appropriate cares to anyone who needs and ask for them, even if he or she is in financial difficulties.

Way of carrying out the treatment

The period of preliminary consultations may be limited to keeping a sustainable offer related to the demands. (Working hypothesis: 6 months – see clinicians working in the Centre d’accueil psychanalytique pour adolescents et jeunes adultes [CAPA], EPFCL Paris).

Responsibility

To guarantee the correct functioning of the Psychoanalytic Consultation Centre, two different coordination roles are envisaged: a) the person responsible for institution; b) the person responsible for clinical aspects.

The person responsible for institution guarantees the relationship between the Psychoanalytic Consultation Centre and the hosting institutions (Local Health Units, Hospitals, Universities, Schools), promoting the networking and controlling the practice of the clinicians regarding its social effects. The person responsible for institution is also involved in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the Centre and in its operational management.

The person responsible for clinical aspects is committed to animate the links between the Psychoanalytic Consultation Centre, the College of Psychoanalytic Clinic and the School of Psychoanalysis of the Forums of the Lacanian Field [EPFCL], activating the appropriated tools to guarantee that the practice of the clinicians get controlled and oriented by the psychoanalysis. The person responsible for clinical aspects is also involved, in collaboration with the person responsible for institution, in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the Centre and in its operational management.
